Scale were administered. This study was composed of 4 sections.
First, the attitudes related to organ donation were administered to 50 kidney donors. 44% of the group were more than 12 years of education. 86% of kidney donors decided to actual donation voluntary.
Second, in comparing 13 living-related and 12 non-living related kidney donors, non-living related donor group showed more psychological well-being and life satisfaction.
Third, 25 kidney donors were tested in 1-10 days before operation and were retested 1 months following operation. Before operation for kidney donation, kidney donors experienced higher social desirability and altruism, whereas after operation for
kidney
donation, they experienced higher hostility and death anxiety.
Fourth, in comparing before operation group, following operation group and normal control group, before and following donor groups showed more social desirability, altruism and internal control than normal control group. On hostility, following
operation group exhibited highest scores. But, on death anxiety, before operation group showed lowest scores among three groups.
These results showed that kidney donation is particularly influenced by social desirability, internal control and altruism.
